56th Annual Membership Meeting: Click HERE for details of our upcoming Annual Membership Meeting to be held on Monday, February 6th at the Huntsville Marriott beginning at 5:00 PM. Please note that our credit union offices will be closing at 4:00 PM on this date.
Mobile Banking is now available! CU-Online home banking users can now access their account information via their iPhone, Blackberry, or Android phone device. Click HERE for information. This free service is a great way to keep in touch with your account(s).
Overdraft Sources for VISA Debit Cards: Members are advised that existing overdraft sources such as savings accounts and overdraft loans are now being accessed to clear VISA Debit Card transactions when there is not a sufficient available balance to cover a transaction request. VISA Debit Card use has grown considerably and members have requested access to their overdraft loan or other share account sources for these transactions in the same manner that is available for checks written. If an automatic transfer is required for one of these VISA Debit Card transactions, a fee of $2.50 per transfer will be charged to the account. Members can avoid a fee by transferring money to the checking account on their own. Our free 24/7 services of CU-Online Home Banking and Memberlink audio response can be utilized for balance inquiries and transfers. Please note that overdraft sources must be selected/authorized in advance by members. Members are encouraged to review their existing overdraft sources for their checking account. Members may want to add or delete overdraft sources depending on their individual situation. As an example, some parents may want a college student to have automatic overdraft access to their own account while others may not. Contact any office for assistance.

CO-OP SURCHARGE FREE ATM NETWORK IS NOW AVAILABLE! Members now have over 28,000 ATM's available nationwide for surcharge free ATM withdrawals. Locally, all Redstone Federal Credit Union ATM's and Publix Grocery Store ATM's are on the CO-OP Network. Please note that there is a $0.50 fee for a balance inquiry at one of these ATM's, so please utilize our free Memberlink 24-hour audio response service or free home banking to monitor your available balance. To find a surcharge free ATM near you, please use the CO-OP ATM Network locator site to find a surcharge free ATM near you; http://www.co-opfs.org/public/locators/ATMlocator/index.cfm . FEDERAL INSURANCE BY THE NCUA: Deposits with North Alabama Educators Credit Union are federally insured to at least $250,000 per account holder by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. Government Agency. Additional insurance coverage is provided for joint accounts. Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA's) are separately insured up to $250,000 by the NCUA. CLICK HERE for the NCUA Insurance Calculator and other information concerning this federal deposit insurance.
CORRECT INFORMATION ON ACCOUNTS: The Credit Union is required by federal law to have a correct "physical" address on all members of the credit union. Members can have a PO Box for their mailing address but a correct "physical" address on record is also required for the Credit Union. Please keep your contact information up to date with the Credit Union. Correct home and cell phone telephone numbers are also helpful in contacting members quickly if fraud or other suspicious account activity is present. Please note that changing your address with the Post Office is not sufficient as we cannot accept a forwarding address from the Post Office due to concerns of account takeovers utilizing a change of address from the Post Office. If you are moving to a new address, please provide the new address and any new contact information directly to the Credit Union.
If you are in one of our offices for a transaction, you may be asked to verify if contact information is correct on your account. This contact information is not used for telemarketing or any other purpose other than what has been stated above.

Financial Tips for Members:
VISA DEBIT CARDS NOT ADVISED FOR HOTEL OR AUTO RESERVATIONS: For most members, it is NOT recommended that a VISA Debit Card be used for hotel and automobile reservations. The problem originates from the excess authorization holds that hotels and car rental companies place on the VISA Debit Card at the time of the initial reservation or check-in. Members who do not have an account balance well above the amount of the transaction may see transactions declined on other purchases because of the high authorization hold placed by the hotel or car rental company. Most hotel and car rental companies realize this potential problem and discourage the use of a VISA Debit Card for reservations. It is advisable to utilize a credit card for the initial reservation transaction. The VISA Debit Card should only be used upon final checkout of a hotel room or return of a rental vehicle.
BEWARE OF COUNTERFEIT CHECKS AND "PHISHING" SCAMS TO STEAL PERSONAL INFORMATION: Click HERE for our PHISHING page that provides information on counterfeit checks and tips to avoid becoming a victim of "phishing" and identity theft. (Page can also by accessed by the PHISHING tab at the top of this page).
KEEP DEBIT/CREDIT CARDS IN SIGHT AT MERCHANTS. Members are encouraged to keep their debit and credit cards in sight during merchant transactions. Small hand-held "skimmer" devices can be used to capture the card information which can then be used to produce a counterfeit card for fraudulent purposes. This type of activity has been more prevalent in restaurant and clubs where the card is taken to another area for card authorizations. This type of "skimming" fraud is growing nationwide. The fraudulent activity from the counterfeit card(s) can take place months or years later. If possible, please keep your cards within view during all merchant transactions.
DO NOT RELY ON CALLER ID FOR BUSINESS VERIFICATION: Caller ID is not always correct. It is possible for someone to use calling features that would show a different calling number than the number actually being used. This would allow a member to receive a call that shows "North Alabama Educators Credit Union" on the Caller ID but would actually be from someone else not associated with the credit union. Never give personal information over the telephone unless you have inititated the call and are sure that your are dealing with the financial institution. The Credit Union will never call a member and ask for personal information over the telephone.
